The Megalopolitan Blizzard of February 10-12, 1983Posted at 09:40 AM ET, 02/12/2013

On February 10-12, 1983, a blizzard swept up the Eastern Seaboard, burying an area from Virginia to the Northeast U.S. under a blanket of very heavy snow. At the height of the storm, thundersnow was observed in many areas, particularly in the Maryland suburbs near Washington, D.C.
This was a textbook setup for heavy snow, with a nearly stationary high-pressure area sitting north of New York in a position to provide cold air to the Washington area. At the same time, a moist low-pressure system had developed and was moving northeast from Alabama.

A storm bringing heavy ice and snow to the interior South will reach the Northeast Wednesday night and Thursday with heavy snow, gusty winds and disruptions to travel and daily activities.

(57,359 posts)I listened to a homemade B-52's tape on the way in, and I'll be listening to the Pet Shop Boys, "Disco - the Remix Album," on the way home.
I bought it at a church thrift store for $1 last fall.
A few years back, I ran into one of those gigantic boomboxes at a yard sale. I just don't have room for everything, though, so I left it there.

I think that Pat Collins needs to do all news reports for all the local channels. Other reporters just aren't able to provide the dramatic delivery that Pat Collins is able to. That's what is missing in reporting today.
This guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Pat Collins is the best!

(999 posts)That storm brings back fond memories of a beautiful young lady that I was deeply in lust with at the time. She drove her car to my house as soon as the snow had stopped falling just so we could be together. She was and is a wonderful person. Thanks for posting because it took me back to a very happy and pleasant time in my life.
