In Photos: A Pro-Palestine Protest Descended Into Anti-Semitism in Paris This Weekend

On July 13 thousands of protesters marched from Paris' Barbès district to Bastille Square to express their support to the Palestinian people and to denounce the Israeli attacks on Gaza. Clashes with the police erupted towards the end of the day, after a group of pro-Palestinian demonstrators made its way to two neighboring synagogues to fight with members of the Jewish Defense League — an organization of far-right religious-political militants.

The French authorities decided to ban a new rally in support of Gaza that had been planned for this past weekend in Barbès — a traditionally working-class area in the north of Paris. Despite the ban, the organizers — which included the far-left party NPA and the organizations Europalestine and Indigènes de la République — insisted on parading under the July sun. Among the crowd was South African politician Ronnie Kasrils, who is known for his strong criticisms of the Israeli government.

At around 2PM, hundreds of demonstrators started to gather on the avenue, which had been lined with riot police trucks. At first, people calmly chanted slogans such as "Palestine will live, Palestine will overcome," "Zionists, fascists, you're terrorists!" and "Israel murderer, [President] Hollande accomplice," but the mood began to heat up once some Israeli flags were burned on the roof of a nearby building. Organizers had asked the demonstrators not to bring anything other that Palestinian and French flags, but many still exhibited Algerian, Turkish or pro-Muslim Brotherhood symbols. As the march was about to set off, the use of the slogan "Allahu akbar" became more and more frequent and a young man started waving the ISIS flag. At the same time, to the dismay of some non-asshole demonstrators, a team of journalists from the French channel, Télé channel was forced to leave as several individuals were threatening them with violence.

"Israel controls the media," said a teenage demonstrator. "Newspapers lie to their public about what is happening in Palestine. We are all gathering here to show our support to the Palestinians and to oppose the crimes and the lies of the Zionists. Nobody will stop us and certainly not Hollande, who seems desperate to silence us," she maintained.

Those stupid bastards. I've been hearing that shit since I was a kid. Of course, a lot of people skip the code word "Israel" and just say "Jews."

I actually never heard this meme until I came here. "Jews killed Jesus." yeah, I heard that one as a kid, was even threatened with death because I was a Jew because I "killed Jesus." I was born in 1969.

It certainly doesn't mean every use is negative or even a code-word, but I have found a number of people who use it that way.

their representative for saying the children are escaping sex trafficking and forcing them to join drug cartels, from south of the border was betraying them. Certainly those are not the goals of the God they claim to serve. The OT is very clear on the subject of 'aliens' in the land. You can't reason with a mob, no matter what good intentions are claimed.

But what is really bad, supposed liberals who ignore it or refuse to report it.
