Susan G. Komen BITCH SLAPS Planned Parenthood

Susan G. Komen pulls their funding from Planned Parenthood. Good thing they don’t need any donations from women.

Really? Perhaps the video has some redeeming quality, but I'm not about to watch it.

I am going to ask you very nicely and respectfully to please edit your subject line, even if it is the title of this questionable video... Violent sexist imagery is really out of place and offensive to many if not most of the women here--particularly when discussing such a critically important issue to women's health and the intrudence of RW politics. Frankly, I can not understand why you would post a video celebrating Komen's attack on Planned Parenthood.

You understanding is appreciated.

...that you kindly and respectfully watch the episode before presuming I'm celebrating the attack. And if you don't like the show, that's swell too.

For what it's worth, I ran the title by supporters of Planned Parenthood and they didn't find it objectionable or even question it. In fact, a woman actually gave me the suggestion. A woman who visited our local Planned Parenthood today, no less.

I'm sorry you were offended, but ya can't please everyone in this world. I sincerely doubt anyone would walk away from watching the show with the idea that violence against women is okay.

particularly when combined with a term advocating violence against women. I don't care who you ran it by, there is NO excuse for this kind of attitude towards women. We are not *b..ches" and advocating violence towards us is NOT ALRIGHT. Do you use these terms towards your wife? your sister? your girlfriend? your mother?

You might have had a point to make; the video might have a point of some kind. But, you lost any chance of getting that across by your insistence on the lack of respect and overt derision for women.

I'm not going to alert, as I thought you would honor a polite request. That you refuse, says more about you than anything else I can say, so I'm content to let it sit out there for all of DU to see. But, while I am not alerting, others may. Your choice.

...to think that someone would claim to speak
to what women in general find offensive. I'm a well educated woman who
doesn't find the word "bitch" to be offensive. Why? I don't give it
that power. If you give it that power, then that's on you. The FCC has
found that this word can be on television, so in general, I would
accept that it is NOT an offensive term, since there was not a huge
letter writing campaign to stop it, UNLIKE the one that happened to
Susan G. Komen when they pulled their funding.

As for violent, sexist imagery, I think the most important thing to
remember is always context. These are two entities. Yes, largely
female driven entities. He is not implying that two women hit each
other. He's not implying a man hitting a woman. There is NO advocating
of violence. If you had an issue with it, it should be VIOLENCE in
general, but hey we live in the real world. It happens, unfortunately.
Planned Parenthood is trying to stop it, too, so instead of bickering
about a fairly benign word choice that you CHOOSE to give power to,
why not address the issue that is imminently going to be dangerous to
women, like the repeated attempts to end funding to Planned
Parenthood.

But, if you have spent any time whatsoever on DU, you will know that that is a minority opinion among women.

But, like some other groups, we have our opportunists who will justify anything at the expense of other less fortunate women. I hope it is not necessary to include you in that unfortunate club.

But one organization "bitch slapping" another is nothing to take seriously. Susan G. Komen Foundation and Planned Parenthood are not real people. They're organizations. They can't actually "bitch slap" each other. I'm not going to get bent out of shape over an inanimate organization hypothetically "bitch slapping" another inanimate organization. Until Susan G. Komen Foundation and Planned Parenthood marry each other, it's not going to draw imagery of domestic violence for me.

I have nothing to gain by justifying the title, so I don't get how you can say I'm doing so at the expense of less fortunate women.

You've left me with two options. Either agree with your extreme feminism view point. (I should say I consider myself a feminist, but yikes!). Or be a bad person who advocates women getting hit, because I don't find a problem with a silly title insinuating an organization hit another organization.

I wonder if you'd be equally as upset if the title read, "Susan G. Komen Kicks Planned Parenthood in the Balls."

I've had others say it was pretty funny and others say it was one of the best. And then there's the ones who claim I'm promoting violence toward women without watching the episode. Like I said, can't please everyone! But I like getting the broad spectrum of reactions. It's funny how one person can interpret something so differently than another, whether it's this video or a comic strip in a newspaper. Oh, America!

However, one relatively respected political writer did reach out to me and told me "you're very good." I won't throw him/her under the bus by revealing their name, but I'll give you a hint. He/she writes for a... blog.

Anywho, thanks for watching!

and always look forward to your new vids whenever I see them released.

But I agree with the thread, this one failed the sniff test, for me at least.

Hope to see more in the future. As you say, to each their own.
