(4,461 posts)..since I don't know much about him. But I understood this pic to show that he supports the expansion personally, and he's calling out his party for playing BS politics.

(51,550 posts)That's how I'd read that too. Or at least that is how I'd like him to mean it...

(4,741 posts)Opposing a black guy in South Carolina is a message that's likely to resonate with a good bit of the populace. Just because wealth has a massively disproportionate influence on our governmental system doesn't mean it's a bad idea to play representational politics when you can..

(37,648 posts)if he supports the expansion, the comment's racial overtones make no sense, unless, as you said, he's calling out his fellow republicans. sad thing is, if a republican is saying it about his own party, it is most likely to be true.

(59 posts)I am so angry now that there are no words. I have always thought this to be true but to have an idiot like this come out and actually say it. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. But at least now we know the truth.

(198 posts)...he is all too aware of the effects of our nation's broken health care system, and the tragic results of people not having health insurance.
Let's give the gentleman credit and support, for coming out against his own party, there in the very heart of the Deep South.
I think it takes GREAT courage to take a public stand like that. We could use more Republicans with common sense, a sense of obligation to their fellow man, AND a belief system that incorporates both REASON and SCIENCE!!!!!!!

(46,037 posts)You saw his statement the way I did. I think others feel that, if he really felt that way, he wouldn't be a Republican.

(1,944 posts)if he supports the Medicare expansion? He has summed up the GOPT - that's all they care about is the man in the WH and unless he also wants to be called a racist along with those bastids - he needs to shout out about how wrong it is to want to defund Obamacares and how right it is to want the best for America. Of course, he will no longer be welcome as a republican.

(153 posts)...is why they oppose EVERYTHING, FFS! Our sitting President has been the perfect fall guy as far as puritan finance/corporate is concerned. Our country held hostage since late '08 when they flipped the proverbial switch, while damn near 1/2 the citizenry have swallowed the lies, (among other things), swiftly turned on their neighbors, and now hysterically worship greed, avarice, racism, cold steel, and above all else, lying for Big Daddy Omnipotent. Blame the African/Muslim/socialist/fascist/illegitimate, (did this really just happen to us, again?), black guy. This has always turned my stomach, since I was a kid. Most companies/corporations we've all known are now persona non grata to me, (just ask scotus). There is not much I don't boycott anymore, and as a mid fidees white male sheet metal worker, laid off going on 5 years, it's not that difficult. FKM!

(9,965 posts)are Boehner's liver function tests. You don't get that color from a tanning booth or even spray tan.

(75,480 posts)I do believe he tries to tan to cover up all the broken capillaries and red nose alcoholism would give him, but you are right, jaundice could be a big contributor too.

What's that old Woody Allen quote? 'I'd never want to belong to a club that would have me as a member.' Conversely, he'd want to belong to a club that wouldn't have him as a member.
