And savor the day -- always a tough one for me. But I watched a movie where a character said one of the reasons he liked India is that people had the attitude that living life was a privilege -- not a right. When I find myself getting down or pissed, I just think "this is really a privilege!". It changes how I look at things, until I start getting down again, anyway. My goal is to have that attitude and live from that perspective all the time, naturally.

8. Fake smiling to yourself...

you can coerce yourself into a slighty better mood by making an effort to smile, because on a certain level the brain is fooled by the smiling muscles being activated.

Another more effective and more important attitude improver, is to be thankful for challenges because once you face them, they will help you become a better person. (I'm paraphrasing what an author wrote in his motivational self-help books, but I can't remember his name right now. But it really helped my own attitude).

Get Out and Exercise
A Duke University study shows that exercise may be just as effective as drugs in treating depression, without all the side effects and expense. Other research shows that in addition to health benefits, regular exercise offers a sense of accomplishment and opportunity for social interaction, releases feel-good endorphins, and boosts self-esteem.
