Published on May 5, 2013

President Barack Obama told college graduates Sunday that only their generation can break the cycle of a political system consumed by "small things" that works for the benefit of a few. (May 5)

POB is addressing GRADUATES: all they have is before them--our President is attempting to nip apathy in the bud here.

Let's not take an address to college graduates out of context.
Furthermore, start "acting like a man" (take responsibility for yourself--Your own mind and attitude) and be less cynical all by yourself!

Appropriate for today, don't you think~

John F. Kennedy's Inaugural Address, January 20, 1961

In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than in mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course. Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe.

Now the trumpet summons us again — not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need; not as a call to battle, though embattled we are — but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle, year in and year out, "rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation" — a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself.
SNIP
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

I am a little perplexed here. You say this kinda suits you to a T.

pessimistic, sarcastic, satirical imply holding a low opinion of humanity. Cynical suggests a disbelief in the sincerity of human motives:

Then why do you have that sweet sweet picture of Martin in you sig line. "No more hurting people." You certainly don't have a disbelief in his sincerity of human motives. You call yourself a cynic, yet you carry Martin with you on every post you make.

Martin is a child of Boston, WillyT. We love and mourn his death as we do the others that died and those that suffered loss of limbs. All that were injured and those that rushed to save lives. We would have had a far larger death toll with out the swift response from responders. I am not just talking about the PD, Fire and rescue. I am talking about everyday people that turned back to the blast, selflessly risking their own lives.

Cynical, are you really?

Martin was an innocent bystander.

Obama, Republicans, TeaBaggers, Neo-Cons, NEO-Libs, TPTB, Etc...

They... are NOT innocent bystanders... they ARE the corruption.

plus the fact that many are in debt up their asses for student loans that will soon be due. What's Obama and Congress doing to address that little issue? Nothing of course. We need a president whose major concern is the large percentage of us who struggle everyday .. not the appeasement of Wall Street and Corporate America. ''Cynical'' is an understatement.

But don't cha know that being less cynical fixes everything!

That's it, the holy grail, jobs will flood in, Wall Street thieves get arrested, no more drones and and SS gets paid back and never touched again, "take responsibility for yourself--Your own mind and attitude" because Obama needs our help fighting the bad Republicans, etc.....

You know, help him with his job because all I've been doing is sitting on my ass complaining this whole time.

Just Believe!
