(8,352 posts)I grew up with Bowie. I remember the first night that MTV aired. Do you remember the astronaut on the moon with the flag? Did the young me imagine that over 30 years later that I could watch on the Internet a streaming video of a Bowie song redone by an actual astronaut in space?!
Brought tears to my eyes it was so beautiful.
Thanks for sharing this.
That is exactly how it hit me. Do you ever feel privileged to have been born at just the right time?
My kids will love it. Especially my musician son. But they will never appreciate it quite the way we do!!

(8,352 posts)we definitely grew up in interesting times. Our parents were introduced to the computer age as adults. Our kids grew up taking it all for granted. For us, it grew up with us.
I have had everything from reel to reel to LP's to 8 tracks to CD's to mp3's. I have had every game console from the very first Pong to the latest PSP and Xbox 360. I have used computers from mainframes to Apple IIe's to Sun Sparc workstations to Core i7's and iPod Touches. I remember BBS and the original AOL and Prodigy and run a dedicated T1 line from home.
What a wonderful and strange ride it is!

Yes . . . interesting times . . . as I sit here typing on my solar powered Logitech wireless keyboard, remembering the launch of the Russian Sputnik.
