Richard Wolff: Economic Realities

Published on Jun 24, 2013

This week's show has Richard D. Wolff giving updates on the G8 summit and Bernanke "shows", Turkey vs Brazil protests, Europe's austerity, and drug companies "pay to delay." The major discussions are on the current crisis in financing public education and of lotteries as disguised tax increases. Finally, Wolff responds to listener questions on job losses from progress, worker coops' survivability, capitalism and democracy, and campaign financing reform.

I studied worker-ownership and economic democracy in grad school in the
80s. This guy is ALL OVER how we can use economic democracy as a way to leverage
a better economic future by morphing our toxic capitalism into a much more humane,
fair, equitable and stable economy FROM THE GROUND UP, one company buy-out/
conversion at a time, with support of what's left of the Union movements.

These are videos. They're usually about an hour and a half long and if you can imagine listening to someone talk about economics for an hour and a half you know what I mean.

Here's one link from his website: http://rdwolff.org

You can find the monthly Brecht Forum talks under videos and titled "Global Capitalism: Monthly Update".

Note: He's taking off for July & August, so the next forum will be in Sept. Previous talks are still relevant, though.
