I think cats are plotting to take over the world. The only thing holding them back is that opposable thumb thing.

(18,775 posts)I've had nightmares of my cats growing opposable thumbs. As it stood, they were WAY too able to open and get into things that should have taken a degree of opposable thumbness to accomplish!

(18,998 posts)Cats are clever creatures, and they don't like other cats coming into their teritory.

(8,821 posts)They don't like each other much at all. They also have no respect for us, but then why would they?

(18,998 posts)Where a team of people fitted cats from a village with GPS collars and tracked the movement of all the cats in a vilage....I wish I could remember where I saw it.
But it was fascinating at how the cats dealt with each other...mostly they had strategies to avoid conflict with other cats and they had a variety of ways to do it.
and that is what came to mind when I saw the vedio...
Oh wait, I found it.

(18,998 posts)They seem to be the ones that think things like cat behavior is important enough to study.
In the USA there is no money in it, so it is not important.
But if cats were able to chose what cat food you buy for them then you would see a torrent of research into what makes them tick.

(25,111 posts)and if he/she wasn't made aware of someone in the room seems like the cat would have continued barking - LOL
And then once he/she realized that - wasn't alone - slowly bark turned into a meow. I hope Animal Planet put that in the running for the most cutest - LOL

(9,696 posts)However, I've never actually seen him "barking" as he hides behind the couch, then when I come into the room, he comes out, looks at me and says "meow?" in a sweet little cat voice.
Would make me crazy if it weren't so funny!
