Dolphin’s 'wet dream' captured on video for first time

By NOBUTARO KAJI/ Staff Writer

KYOTO--Researchers captured for the first time on film a wild dolphin’s "nocturnal emissions" in waters about 200 kilometers south of Tokyo.

The spontaneous ejaculation of the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin was recorded near Tokyo's Mikurajima island in July 2012 by a team from Kyoto University and other institutions.

The researchers said Sept. 3 it was a world first for aquatic mammals such as whales and seals.

Tadamichi Morisaka, a program-specific assistant professor at Kyoto University's Wildlife Research Center who specializes in dolphin voice communications, was observing a school of dolphins with his co-workers at the time.

4. You do realize Japan conducts commercial whaling in the name of cetacean research?

Not all Japanese engage in this activity however I would not bet on those who use the pretense to conduct research. Dolphins have not been immune to this activity, and all whale dolphin meat has low demand in Japan.

...out of anyone or anything that gets between it and OIL.

BTW you might want to consider the tiny fact that Japanese whaling was an American invention.

ETA: Sick or not, there's at least some nutritional value in a dolphin.

8. True enough, but American whaling was for oil they did not eat them.

There goes that oil thing again. We even allow some Native American tribes to conduct whaling for food (unlike Japan seem to like whale meat) who also harvest the oil. I would like to see at least one intelligent species survive on the planet if they live in the ocean it would be fine with me.

America encouraged the eating of whale meat in Japan post WWII.

American whaling was a lot like American anything. If you weren't deliberately pissing half the value of anything up against the wall, it's not American enough.

I am probably the last person who needs a lesson on American greed and expedience. If truth be known I am likely close to your view on that matter.

If history proves anything the same mistakes will be made over and over again. That is true unless you get your history from a textbook that meets the standards set in Texas.
