(3,747 posts)For a man who is used to people snap to-ing when he says so, this must have been even worse than being fired from the military! I didn't know he was going to teach...and it looks like he going to learn more than they do!.

(512 posts)How to act like spoiled, think they know it all, rude assholes? I sincerely hope the same idiots keep doing this every day and it gets filmed...and then they get arrested for harassment.
BlueToTheBone
(3,747 posts)not everyone thinks he is all that. Remember the Surge? I hope they yell at him every day.

(512 posts)I was there and ended up serving a 15 month deployment because of it. You know what though...it worked. Violence in Iraq was reduced, and it set us up for being able to get out of there in a more timely manner. Ultimately he was a member of the military that executed the mission given to him the best way that he could figure out.

(3,747 posts)Car bombs are a daily occurrence and the death toll in that country continues to rise. Glad you liked serving under the general.

(12,882 posts)I applaud you for your service. Now consider this...... Obama ran for president - promising among other things - that he'd END that illegal war the day he entered office. He GOT to that office, but did not end the war. Why was that??? Whether or not it factors in that Obama had never served in the military, I can't judge. But he HAD TO HAVE HAD "advice" from the BIG BRASS - and BIG BRASS live, not to oversee peace, but to conduct war(s). Guess what they were bound to advise the president(s) they could do.
You can argue that the surge worked - that's certainly your prerogative. But just LOOK at the DAILY acts of terrorism that go on over there to this very day. Is that what we fought for? Are there ANY less folks dying than would have under Saddam?
We've got SO MANY issues facing us here at home - there's NO good reason to be sticking our noses in other folks business.

(12,618 posts)and spend your career being an apologist for it. If all that happens to you as a result is you get heckled a little bit, I'd say he got off easy.

Downtown Hound
(12,618 posts)is being polite? Okay. And bombing the shit out of Iraq, killing thousands of their people, torturing them, and spreading toxic depleted uranium all over is "liberation" huh?
BlueToTheBone
(3,747 posts)any of those things. Do you have my post mixed up with some one else's? Nor have I ever thought Iraq was about liberation. The first anagram they had spelled OIL and I thought they should have kept that moniker.

Rove dirtied our streets a while back and we were able to arrange a welcome committee. He was speaking at a local college and the kids didn't even know who he was. Love those young Rethugs!

(9,033 posts)After all, they--allegedly--work for us. I doubt that is a concept many in the military, especially the upper echelons, share. Gonna be a rough time for General Betrayus.
