Thom Hartmann: Is Trader Joe's Leading America to Single Payer HealthCare?

According to a management memo leaked to the press, Trader Joe’s will drop health care for part-time workers, and will instead give them a $500 annual check to pay for a new insurance plan. This has conservatives screaming that we are all going to be paying for the cost of healthcare for low-income workers, and has liberals scratching their heads and worrying about the future of Obamacare

Bravo, Trader Joe's.

temporarily this is of course bad for the employees, but ultimately we do want employers out of the health insurance business. provided people have a good alternative, of course.

I hardly call that a win.

Hopefully, things will change and people will see that single-payer is not only moral, but it's the practical thing to implement.

especially when combined with a decrease in working hours.

but some employers are doing the same thing and not even giving employees the $500.

which means they profit and blame obamacare.

we spend on so-called 'national security'? With so many American dying for lack of HC, it IS a National Security problem.

As I understand it, National Security means 'keeping Americans safe'. We are in more danger of dying from lack of HC than anything else. Since 9/11 eg, one half million Americans have died as a result of not having HC. THAT is a National Security problem.
