(36,418 posts)2. I think we're coming to understand our differences from the neoliberals on economic and foreign
policy issues. But, it's the same intraparty division lines that go back to the 1940s when the Democrats split into three parts: Henry Wallace Progressives, Strom Thurman Dixiecrats, and Truman-ADA Cold War Centrists. There's been periodic re-coalescence and rifts, but never really a mending.
