policy issues. But, it's the same intraparty division lines that go back to the 1940s when the Democrats split into three parts: Henry Wallace Progressives, Strom Thurman Dixiecrats, and Truman-ADA Cold War Centrists. There's been periodic re-coalescence and rifts, but never really a mending.
