One of the team would wave his hat and dance across the infield as he (and the rest of the much more sedate team) would groom the infield in the inter-inning breaks. Their act was like a ballet, the brooms perfectly overlapping to maximize coverage and minimize the number of passes. The obligatory Tiger Stadium organist played inevitable accompaniment -- not for the team, but the one guy standing out, stealing the show.

The crowd would go wild. He inevitably would take a bow when they finished, often with a standing ovation. (Maybe beers and Tiger Stadium Red Hots well oiled the fans.)

These people deserve the same. A standing ovation. My home town deserves nothing less than that. They should take a bow.
