But that was way back in the early 60s when sky diving was a new thing and we did not have the equipment that they do today...we used standard military parachutes with panels cut out in the back to give some forward thrust...and we jumped with a reserve chute...and not off of buildings.
But I would not do it now...I lost my desire for thrills somewhere in growing up.

but stopped while I still had unbroken bones. I decided to stay in the plane and learn to fly it. I definitely would not skydive now, as I am too old.

And one day I was in the second load and watching the first load go, and one of the guys had a steamer...and we watched him fall until just before the ground and he pulled his reserve and it pooped open just before he hit the ground...he had about one second of hang time...And it was his first jump.
After that I lost my taste for the thrill....and guess what, I took up flying too.

Looks great! But OMG, I could never! I actually think I would prefer this over bungee jumping, however.

What had been thousands of feet in height was reduced to only a few hundred because;

of all the testosterone that had leaked out of the jumpers as they did their thing.

I'd do this stuff, but other than being a pussy, I have 3 pounds of titanium acting as half of my spinal column.

I know, excuses, excuses....

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
