Also, this:

If Mifepristone turns out to be the cause of death in all five possible cases, the pill's mortality rate will be under one in 100,000. Between 1988 and 1997 (before the abortion pill was approved) the mortality rate from legal induced abortion, according to the Centers for Disease Control, was 0.7 per 100,000.

....The Association of Reproductive Health Professionals cites a mortality rate of five per 100,000 for Viagra, the erectile dysfunction drug, and as Dr. Paul Blumenthal, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, puts it, "That's a risk men are willing to take to have erections."

Viagra: Not Just for Erections

http://www.alternet.org/story/61605/viagra%3A_not_just_for_erections

With that said, I think any and all treatments should be shared by a whole population no matter the reason, and impotence is one of them - any couple wanting a family should have the right to anything the medical community has to offer.

But, before the snark ..... I did get your point.

vascular disease.

Men who are suffering from ED should have a complete, full-body check-up to rule out serious illnesses that can be aggravted by viagra.

Since Viagra is considered to be a lifestyle drug, it is NOT covered by medicare nor by medicaid. It is covered by private insurance companies.

Viagra was originally intended for Pulmonary Hypertension and during the clinical trials, an interesting side effect was noted. People who take Viagra for PH take about 90 pills a month at a cost of $120 per month. People who take Viagra for ED pay $25 per pill.

who cover a ton of people, like, say, those who provide insurance for state employees in Washington, and a couple of other states.

The person writing that article is a bald-faced liar when she states that.

Typical in the argument, however.

Erections Get Insurance; Why Not the Pill?
June 19, 2002
By GERALDINE SEALEY

Within weeks of hitting the U.S. market in 1998, more than half of Viagra prescriptions received health insurance coverage. If many women weren't already outraged that they had to pay for birth control out of pocket, they were infuriated at the preference given to the anti-impotence pills.

But the fury over Viagra may have given the fight for contraception covered under insurance plans just the momentum it needed. Women's groups say they're making significant progress in their battle to get reimbursed for birth control, even though insurers still argue that covering contraception will boost already skyrocketing health-care premiums.

VIAGRA is covered by most insurance plans. As of March 2012, VIAGRA is covered for 65% of insured patients (including Tier 2, Tier 3, Step Edit, and PA status).1

"Free" = not subject to co-pays or deductibles.

Viagra isn't covered at all by medicaid, and only from private insurance if the insurer chooses to cover it, and then only to the extent that your deductible is satisfied.

Impotence may or may not be God's will, but refusing to pay for it is definitely Kathleen Sebelius' will.

Public policy that fits on a bumper sticker has it's place, but "freedumbnation" is doing it wrong.

Their site redirects to a new-agey woo infomercial "adrenal fatigue" snake-oil ecommerce site.

Theos Health Body Balance Quick Start Package is only $349! They offer an affiliate program and would pay you handsomely for the clicks.

... if they aren't already.

...that Kathleen Sebelius had such fine control over our health care law. I thought that she was in charge of administering the law that is in place, not that she is able to dictate what is covered and what is not.

Please, can you cite your reference for the statement that "refusing to pay for it is definitely Kathleen Sebelius' will"???
