Papantonio: Loosening the Rules for Defense Contractors

This segment originally aired on the October 27th, 2013 episode of Ring of Fire on Free Speech TV. Recently, President Obama weakened the rules for defense contractors, and they are now allowed to sell deadly weapons to countries that are less than friendly to the United States. Ring of Fire’s Mike Papantonio explains why this happened with attorneys Niall McCarthy and Mike Burg.

Does American Plutocracy Have Any Limits?
May 12, 2013 By Daniel Fincke 3 Comments

Amazing.

First they got the banks deregulated, then they made obscene, unsustainable profits, crashed the economy, got bailed outwith billions of dollars of taxpayer money, threw a record number of people out of their homes, laid people off, cut workers’ hours to part time, overworked the remaining full timers grateful to still have jobs, made record profits, created hardly any new jobs, and NOW they’ve had the gall and the power to get the House of Representatives to vote to eliminate the rules guaranteeing time and a half pay for overtime doing certain jobs.

How long until the plutocrats stop running this country? What is it going to take to stop them?

Violence, basically. Which isn't going to happen. Instead, eventually America will be turned into a third-world hellhole, complete with vast pollution (Keystone XL continues to move ahead, just as one example) and the rich will flee to another country. And, of course, the right wing will blame the left for having objected to the rich too much.

Did you hear about the "Downton Abbey amendment" to the Immigration bill? According to Wonkblog:

The libertarian-leaning Republican (Sen. Mike Lee of Utah) proposed an amendment to exempt “cooks, waiters, butlers, housekeepers, governessess, maids, valets, baby sitters, janitors, laundresses, furnacemen, caretakers, handymen, gardeners, footmen, grooms, and chauffeurs of automobiles for family use” from E-Verify, the federal government’s system that enables employers to check on the legal status of their employees.

"What is it going to take to stop them?"

Two words for you: Arab Spring. What caused it was that at one point, the states where not capable to both feed the people and guarantee the rents and privileges of the upper-class; and, being ruled by an unfettered caste of dynastic patricians whose arrogance had overwhelmed even their self-preservation instincts, they decided to prioritize the aristocracy's lifestile over feeding the people.

As Evan Fraser and Andrew Rimas wrote:

"No parent ever watched their child's teeth fall out from scurvy on account of a vanishing 401(k) pan."... yet.

The USA and Europe own to their gargantuan wealth the fact that despite the growing inequalities, they have yet to face the situation where an arrogant nobility decide to starve the people to overfeed itself: that's why Brookville N.Y or Neuilly in France have yet to be burned to the ground and their population massacred. On the other hand, the day when this happens is gorwing closer, has evidenced by the tightening ties between the "moderate" right-wing parties and fudamentalists & fascists parties & organizations in Europe and North America: the Rich Kids know that if the plebs' situation keeps degrading, they will need a lot of uniformed thugs to protect their assests and themselves.
