I have actually used the "closet" analogy for a number of things, so it is nice to see others recognize it as well!

She really does make "the closet" a universal experience, which it is in one way or another. We all have aspects of ourselves which we find difficult to share with others.

And is certainly thought provoking.

I think the longer you live in a closet, the harder it is to come out of it. The door swells and jams shut and the lock and hinges get rusty and won't budge.

I just wish there was a place everyone could go to open that door without having to live with the consequences. Those consequences can hurt with the door closed and they can hurt with the door opened. Some things will not be open for social discussion and acceptance in our lifetime.

I'm glad that the "gay" conversation is allowing so many people to finally open their doors.
