Think of this orchestra - as it assembles - as our collective Joy in being Democrats and having achieved something important and incredibly valuable today.
Thank you Harry Reid.

(4,296 posts)This is how it will happen, the way water finds its way through mountains, the way morning finds its way through night. We must keep trying and trying, finding new voices to join in, each one adding a new piece of experience that subtly changes the composition of the common wisdom, deepening and broadening it for all of us together. We don't even know exactly what will happen in the future, but we don't have to know that. We only have to do our best, each one of us, to play our part of the music as truly as we possibly can. And teach the people who will come after us to do their best, too.

(10,901 posts)Bill Moyers Explores Amazing Lessons of Beethovens Ninth Symphony for Our Dark Time

Remarkably, Moyers presents almost the entire seven-minute trailer for the film, which takes you from China (and Tiananmen Square) to Chile (under Pinochet) to England to Japan and elsewhere, with a special guest appearance by Billy Bragg. Before and after the trailer, Bill offers context and some very moving words of wisdom on the meaning of the Ninth, and Beethovens hope-despite-struggles, for our dark time. ... and a collection of Ode to Joy flash mobs from around the globe.
