Their employees to go and seek assistance. Instead of FOX telling 49% of Americans doesn't pay taxes they should be giving the real truth about the "assistance" given to Walmart employees which allows more profits to Walmart. I had a RW pointing out about 49% not paying taxes and I told her there are rich people in that group also like Romney for one. She has a son with ten kids and I doubt they are paying much in taxes either.

pay PLENTY of taxes, a far higher % of their income than the rich, just not income taxes. We need to not buy into reichwing memes.

But that is an advantage the reichwingers have: reality is always more complicated than their talking points.

"take advantage" through itemizing and pay little or no taxes. As Leona Helmsley stated "rich people don't pay taxes". Look at Romney failing to show more than two years of taxes.

Many will never see themselves getting past the maximum on this, adding to sales taxes and other taxes even if they don't pay income tax. I did some research on Starbucks CEO, he receives $13M in compensation, which amounts to $250,000 per week and the top 10% is crying theylay a larger amount of the taxes DUH they make more money in a week than a large portion of the population. Sorry I don't cry for them.

How in the hell do you save enough from $7.50 an hour to retire? The GOP is still pissed another Democrat program actually works.

8. We should have a living wage

In public policy, a living wage is the minimum income necessary for a worker to meet needs considered[by whom?] basic. This is not necessarily the same as subsistence, which refers to a biological minimum, though the two terms are commonly confused. These needs include shelter (housing) and other incidentals such as clothing and nutrition. In some nations such as the United Kingdom and Switzerland, this standard generally means that a person working forty hours a week, with no additional income, should be able to afford the basics for quality of life, food, utilities, transport, health care, and minimal recreation, one course a year to upgrade their education and childcare although in many cases education, saving for retirement, and less commonly legal fees and insurance, or taking care of a sick or elderly family member are not included.

It should be set by locality, not nationally.

Could you qualify that statistic please. I can't imagine that a Walmart worker is there for enough years to generate that kind of subsidy.

11. In one year the worker in total get enough help from the federal gov't

to add up to that number. That is my understanding.

I live in Iowa and a couple years ago I believe the number here was @$600,000 to subsidize employees.
Beyond that in Iowa Walmart pays little tax due to an accounting arrangement where all the stores are owned by the parent company and rented back. Not exactly sure how, but it avoids property taxes.
Walmarts often arrange sweetheart deals on utilities etc especially in small towns.

But the Walton kids aren't starving.

the bidness of 'murika is bidness and the TPTB valiantly strive to assure a little-taxed vast corporate profitability rather that to promote the general welfare in a manner all of society would benefit.
