....he was. In longer versions of the exchange, he asks to respond after the applause dies back. His request was denied.

I have seriously mixed feelings about that particular representative (Chris Smith). His views on women's rights and health are backward, and I would never vote for him if I was in his district, but he's also done some very good things with respect to international child custody and abduction.

I also second the comment about Rep. Speier's awesomeness.
