Modern Country Music in 3 minutes and 29 seconds.

This video was made by Entertainment Weekly writer Grady Smith in response to readers who thought his list of his favorite country albums from 2013 didn’t include enough mainstream country music. “I hope country fans will stop settling for this derivative junk,” he says in a message on YouTube. “I love a dumb party song every once in a while (including some of these!), but when they’re the only flavor available, they get old very, very fast.”

This drivel is manna for baggers. Big, badass, carbon-belching trucks that state: Mine's bigger'n yours! OH.... and all the Barbie-Doll shaped girlies - not a buxom or chunky one in the bunch. I've never looked to C&W for an intellectual retreat.

the same time that the Dixie Chicks were driven out. All those guys in the video are Kenny Chesney clones, singing cloned material. It's like the faceless Nashville songwriters, who have historically provided a lot of schlock and a little bit of good stuff, were replaced by software that spits out NOTHING BUT schlock. The singers have little to do with any of it, they're just the delivery device.

And as always there was a country music band playing. But this time something the singer said stopped me in my tracks and made me laugh out loud. He said, and I QUOTE:

"This next song is another song about guns and Jesus."

And no, I am not making that up. It was about the funniest thing I have ever heard one of these yahoos say.

This year, I'm asking Santa that all the singers in that video be sent back in time so a 1950s Johnny Cash can kick all their asses.

ass-kicking on them. I saw him and his wife June in concert in Homestead, FL in the '70s. I am not a country music fan, but he was fantastic.
