According to this report, MoD assests associated with the Red Banner Pacific Fleet detected two low-level underground atomic explosions occurring in the Fukushima disaster zone on 31 December, the first measuring 5.1 magnitude in intensity, followed by a smaller 3.6 magnitude explosion moments later.

The site is a real laugher of prime conspiracy theory woo. The graphics alone make that clear

Air: We continue to pollute the air, although we have been better in the past 30 years.
Sun/Moon: These are out of our control. If there is an issue with either of these, we're all dead.
Water: Human and plant life cannot survive without water. Yet, there are now hundreds of thousands of barrels of contaminated water from Fukushima currently being stored in Japan. It was from the overflow of water used to keep the site cool. What are we going to do with these barrels? And still, there has not been any significant progress on containing the plants. Overspill is being dumped in the Pacific as we speak.
Why in the hell aren't the powers that be, doing something about this? It needs to be contained. NOW!!!!
We are killing this planet and ourselves at an alarming rate. The weird part is it appears we're not doing much to correct it. We know what we've done to destroy the air and water, and are not correcting the situation.
Hey, here's a thought. Let's work towards shutting down nuclear plants.

(99 posts)it is way past time we started taking the threat of this ongoing nuclear catastrophe seriously and increase the pressure on the Japanese government to accept outside assistance with their attempt to bring this under control.

(40,416 posts)It is almost worse than hiding information to deliberately conflate the situation. Why would anybody want to do that?
The public needs the facts! Not some airbrushed version, whether it is to hide the hindside, or to promote some doom scenerio that exists only in somebody's imagination.
Of course, the early attempts to save face and to smooth things over are now coming back to bite TEPCO and the Japanese government. Now nobody trusts them. The media coverage has been very poor, especially in the USA. So idiots and ideological jerks have jumped into that vacuum, spreading fear and crazy speculations.
Now people can not only not trust what TEPCO says, they almost cannot trust what anybody is saying. How is that such a good situation?
I fear that this story is going down Alice's rabbit hole. That doesn't help anybody.

(99 posts)while I cannot say positively either way whether there were additional "prompt criticalities" which triggered the ground movement ( I wasn't there at the time, were any of you? ), I can say that the MSM in our country has done a huge disservice to the American people by not providing us with accurate information regarding this ongoing disaster and its impact on Japan, North America, and, indeed, the entire planet.

(40,416 posts)And is there any science that would connect Fukushima to those events?
For Christ sake, there are people who are claiming that Fukushima is responsible for sea star meltdown, a syndrome known since the 1990's! And then there's the dead eagles in Utah. What credible science would connect Fukushima to that?
In the absence of information people will just make shit up. That's what is happening here. The problem is that ignorance leads to people believing crazy things.
I fear for us. Not because of Fukushima, but because people are so ignorant that they do not understand much of what little is being reported has ideological origins. And much of it is made up shit.
Make no mistake. I think Fukushima is a huge disaster. It will likely take decades to clean it up. But I also have faith in humans that this will get done. Mistakes were made, but does anybody realistically think that after a change of government --putatively because of the government's handling of the disaster -- the new PM would try to brush the situation under the rug?

Maybe you should get a reality check, or just continue to ignore the facts. OMG
