teenagers who were below grade average and "challenged" in learning. We spent part of the session on current events, and NAFTA was something that they were bringing in as news and very confused about. None of them ( and these were kids also working at jobs as part of the program, and soon to be seeking employment in the real world with limited skills) could understand what possible benefits NAFTA could offer to U.S. job seekers like themselves. I had to agree. We had no choice but to discuss NAFTA from this standpoint and write letters to our local congressman. Needless to say, another big encouragement to those of our kids left behind.
