(20,453 posts)I can only speak for the SW of PA where I am quite familiar with hiring practices and the hierarchy of how the force considers applications for police, in accordance with the civil service commission.
Ontario, I cannot weigh in on, but I'm betting they have to consider (out of all applicants) ex-military as a priority. A good police chief and local govt manager will stay right on top of it to weed out those with that kind of attitude.
It's all controlled at the top, and you can tell what the top cop is like, according to this video.
