The message in the video is pretty much the reason I never tried hard drugs. I saw my friends in various stages of addiction and I promised myself I'd never be in that position. With addictive substances it's really the only way to avoid problems.

Heroin addicts can and do lead productive lives. Putting them under a doctor's care has all sorts of benefits. It insures them a consistent and relatively safe product. It helps prevent them from sharing needles. It prevents them from destroying themselves. Ultimately it saves lives. Many of the problems associated with heroin are because it's illegal. The product is inconsistent in strength and is oven cut with toxic substances. People will steal things to get it or spend all their time panhandling for enough money for their next high. They will go through withdraw and binge cycles.
