Frozen Slovenia Is Witnessing 'The Worst Devastation In Living Memory'

Three days of blizzards have inflicted "the worst devastation in living memory" in the small Alpine country of Slovenia, according to local media.

About 50,000 homes lost power as trees and electricity poles buckled under up to six inches of ice after oscillating temperatures caused some snow to melt and then freeze again.

Authorities estimate that roughly half of Slovenia's forests — about 1.2 million acres — have been damaged.

The result: A frozen landscape.

We had an ice storm in Ohio last night.

NOTHING to compare with this, but my brother and sister said it look like a war zone where they live.

Trees limbs came down on my brothers truck and roof.

They both said there were trees and branches everywhere.

My brother lives 55 miles from me.

My sister lives 35 miles from me.

I have frozen lakes in my driveway and yard, but not many broken branches, or downed trees.

It may be destructive and deadly but it is beautiful to look at.

Most destructive things usually are; volcanoes, wildfires, ice storms, snow storms, thunderstorms with lightning, etc.

Sending out good vibes all over the world.

8. I live in Columbus and it was hell here.

My car was a sheet of ice with about 9" of snow underneath. Of course my doors were frozen shut so I had to do the boiling water bit. It took me about an hour to clear everything off and shovel the snow that was behind the car to back out and go to a job interview. wish me (and all of us) good luck.

3. Absolutely brutal!

Of all the winter weather stuff we in northern climates have to deal with ice is hands-down THE very worst. The poor people! And all those trees! Tragic.

6. Just watched the video at the link

which has a bigger screen.

The guy has a much heavier foot than I would have in those conditons.
His paint job must be pretty well banged up I would think.
Was trying to figure out what kind of vehicle he was driving.
