Before the Bush recession hit I worked at a major cable network, and of our several thousand employees, 70% were 'perma-temps'. Now, we weren't getting $10 an hour, but we did get paid less than the 'real' employees at the same level. The 'real' employees also had much better benefits & perks, and I think they even had more paid time off.
