Related: About this forumLou Dobbs PEES ALL OVER Louie Gohmert's Parade -- Circular Firing Squad Unloads - ENJOY!
Louie Gohmert was no doubt ready for a huge show of praise from Dobbs on the House's attempt to block the debt ceiling hike, but instead, poor Louie was treated to a wallop of slaps, spanks and anvil hits over the head by Dobbs.
The Republicans are continuing to cannibalize each others' bodies as the GOP slowly but surely sinks under the waters of the Democratic wave continuing to wash over the country. Dobbs not only puts the blame for the government shut-down right where it belongs, on the backs of the Tea Party, he shames them as unable to govern and unwilling to do what is right. Tea Party FAIL.
The so-called Tea Party is fast wearing out its welcome in the GOP as the few remaining Republicans in the House who have some sense are joining the Democrats to actually legislate.

(36,974 posts)Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) was just one of 199 Republicans who voted against raising the debt ceiling yesterday, in open defiance of House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH). But when Gohmert appeared on Fox Business Network with Lou Dobbs, he received what seemed like 100% of the blame for what the host called pure political theater by the ultra-conservative wing of the GOP.
How in the world do you expect the Republican Party to not find itself in the same strategic blind and bind that it was in last year when you guys shut down the federal government? Dobbs demanded of Gohmert. There comes a time where there just has to be some pragmatism. Go out an win an election, get 400 members, get 100 senators, get a presidency.
I dont expect us not to be in the same bind, and thats why I was so against what we did here, Gohmert replied, using Joe Biden-worthy double negatives. When he started comparing the current situation to what Congress was dealing with in 2006, Dobbs interrupted him.
In 2006 you had a Republican president, congressman! Dobbs shot back. You are surely aware of the fact that you are a majority in one branch of government! He added, You know as well as I do that half of the bills youre passing are pure and I think I may generous in my percentage are absolutely political theater because you know they will die in the Senate, you know that a Democrat president will kill them. What do you expect to do when you are in the majority in one branch of government?
When Gohmert defended the power of the Republican-controlled House, Dobbs interrupted again. Again, I repeat, you are not in control of the federal government! he said.

(7,951 posts)He is correct in his assumption that the Tea Party will be the death of the Pubbies. I wasn't about to click on it but the look on Gohmert's face was priceless.

(44,576 posts)Rupert Murdoch has a vested interest in vanquishing the Tea Party/Koch Brothers side of the GOP -- he's aligned with the old school/Grover Norquist side. Why do you think he's "allowed" his Wall Street Journal to do such great reporting on Chris "Governor Soprano" Christie's Bridge(t)-Gate?

Then why am I seeing so many comments that state that the repubs have a real good chance to take over the Senate in 2014, while still holding the House?
It makes for some frustrating reading.

(32,723 posts)And they actually BELIEVE that is the way it should be.
Just look at the Republican cocktail parties. They have all the movers and shakers in attendance.
Dems hold a party and who do they get? The President of France and George Clooney? Big whoop. Republicans can get the CEO of Exxon Mobil and,.....uh,....Duck Dynasty....

I say this with all seriousness: The Tea Party is our biggest ally right now. Those whackjobs will help take down Repugs by making unwinnable races winnable for us.
