That racist bigoted bastard is a replacement Senator from the recall. They are demanding open carry your gun anywhere laws with no restriction on magazine size, ammo, or kind of weapon. And they want laws that require business to give service to gun carriers. Add t that that they are against ANY kind of gun training or background checks. Even dangerous people should be able to open carry under the new NRA agenda.

Read between the lines folks and look at what they are arguing for and pushing for. We will look like the Middle East with people carrying machine guns around openly. Do we want that as a society because that policy is what the NRA is demanding.

I hope you realize that machine guns are tightly regulated in our nation.

Machine guns are also extremely expensive firearms for a civilian to acquire.

A History of Machine Guns in the U.S.A.

For decades machine guns were manufactured and bought and sold to individuals, the U.S. military, government and law enforcement agencies. Once again, if the firearms were LEGALLY produced and transferred to civilians they were registered. This all continued until May 19th, 1986. On that date a new federal law became effective that mandated a machine gun, in order to be able to be transferred between civilians, must have been BUILT and REGISTERED by that date. In other words, no machine gun built on May 19th or subsequently can be owned by a non-government entity.

The Economics of Class 3 Gun Ownership

So, you get the picture. A fixed supply, an increasing demand, thus the upward price pressure, since there are literally, by federal mandate, no additional machine guns able to be added to the registry of machine guns maintained by BATFE. This means you could find an unfired, mint condition machine gun brought back from Germany by your grandfather in his duffle bag at the end of World War II, however, if it wasn’t REGISTERED by May 19th, 1986, you are in illegal possession of a machine gun. So, it is quite easy to understand that if the existing pool of guns is fixed by federal law, as long as people are willing to pay ever-increasing prices for these rare items, the price will continue to rise. (it should be noted that SBS, SBR and suppressors are not in a limited supply, and are thus much more reasonably priced)

A fully automatic M16 assault rifle or a Thompson submachine gun in good condition could set you back well over $20,000.

Therefore I doubt that you will see civilians walking around our city streets with true machine guns in the future. Of course there are gun owners who wish that the laws involving machine gun ownership would change to once again allow civilian ownership of weapons manufactured after 1986. Realistically that has far less chance of happening than another assault weapons ban.

I will agree with you that open carry without any restrictions could be a bad idea in many states in our country. I have no problem with requiring that citizens should have a good background check and training on firearm safety and the legal aspects of self defense in their state before they are allowed to carry in public. I personally feel that this decision should be determined at the state level. What works in Montana might not work in Florida.
