.The Producers (1968)...Mel Brooks' first film

That line was uttered after a reference to Winston Churchill being a painter.

Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder & Kenneth Mars, as "Franz Liebkin" were on the roof of Liebkin's apartment building....He had pigeons up there....He was the author of
"The worst play ever written"..."Springtime For Hitler"

Brooks believes that the best remedy to a tyrant is ridicule. I agree. And you're hearing this straight from the horse. Hitler was better looking than Churchill.............. and he could dance the pants off of Churchill. The dance the pants reference was about the little jig Hitler did after getting France to surrender in 1940 in the same railroad car in which Germany surrendered to France ending WW I. Mel Brooks was also at the Battle of the Bulge.

..Mel Brooks introduced his characters brilliantly, one by one, each new character being even funnier than the last.

First we meet Zero Mostel as Max Bialystock, the producer, and Gene Wilder as the accountant Leo Bloom, sent over to check the producer's books.
("Nobody ever called me Leo before....even in kindergarten they called me Bloom&quot

Then we meet Kenneth Mars' character, Franz Liebkin, the author of the worst play ever written, who's up on the roof with his pigeons.

Later, we meet the play's director, "Roger De Bris" (Christopher Hewett) who is behind a partition when they first come into the room, after a hilarious elevator ride with the director's assistant,"Carmen Ghia&quot

Max Bialystock:.."Roger, did you have a chance to read 'Springtime For Hitler?"

Roger De Bris:.(emerges from behind the partition wearing a dress)
"Remarkable!.Remarkable! A stunning piece of work"

Leo Bloom.(under his breath) "Max..Max, he's wearing a dress!"

Max Bialystock:."No kidding"

Roger De Bris.."Did you know, I never knew that the Third Reich meant Germany.
.I mean it's just drenched with historical goodies like that.
...Oh dear, you're staring at my dress,. I should explain, .we are going to the
choreographer's ball tonight and there's a prize for the best costume."

Carmen Ghia:.."And we always win"

Roger De Bris.."I don't know about tonight, I'm supposed to be the Grand Duchess Anastasia,
but I think I look more like Tugboat Annie..What do you think,Mr Bloom?"

Leo Bloom:..."Where do you keep your wallet?"

Later on we meet Dick Shawn's character, "Lorenzo St. DuBois" (LSD)
who is even funnier than Roger De Bris.

IMO, Mel Brooks is a true genius; and, his masterpiece is "The Producers"

("Blazing Saddles" & "Young Frankenstein" are both pretty funny too)

12. Bush "won" his 2 elections? That's news to me.
Fri Feb 14, 2014, 02:58 PM
Feb 2014

The first one, he was selected by the Supreme Court (9/11, 2 expensive wars, Medicare Part D unpaid for, 2 tax break/ gifts for his wealthy friends, CAFTA, and mismanagement partisan politics the entire first 4 yrs). AND then the next election, the Pukes swift boated a war hero, while lifting up an AWOL drunk ass hat, and using Republican friendly, computer generated, election results throughout the country and essentially stealing the election in OH for Bush in the middle of the night, led to Katrina, more lies and scandals (especially regarding the Justice Dept and the way in which they used it as a partisan attack bully (Chris Christie wasn't on their "no good, replace" list because he was "Bush Friendly". On top of that he and Dick and other top admin are war criminals; authorizing torture, pre-eminantly attacking a country and screwing it to hell, no-bid contractors working havoc and mayhem and costing more money than enlisted military personnel, and GITMO still kicking to this day with people in custody that have never been charged with any type of crime and quite a few that are innocent and were rounded up/ caught/ turned in for money, men and children who have done nothing and are sitting in perpetuity with no end in site (it's been so long since they created this jail on one end of the Cuban Island - some of these people have 10+ years in detention in - some of these children are now men).

Anyway, perhaps his bringing up George W Bush in conversation is to remind us all of how badly 2000 - present has hurt the American people and the world, has allowed corporations and Big Banks to become bigger, more powerful, and more greedy than ever before, and the world seemingly beholden to the crooks because they could feasibly take out a small country, if not destroy this one. Maybe its a perspective agenda item, "hey, look over here, George W Bush was our last President, and in comparison I'm not nearly as corrupt of devoid of humanity as President Bush was". OR he's figured out that his political aspirations for running and winning the Presidency in 2016 is over. So, if he can't have it, no other Republican politician setting up a running bid will be able to lose the Republican/ George W Bush disastrous Presidency. AND this should teach the rest of the Republican Governors and the Republican party for abandoning him in his scandals and talking shit about him. Also, he's still the head of the Republican Gov Assoc. He can really F*#k those running in state races this year, some major problems. Anything from handing out money to showing up in their states for a campaign rally and allowing the other state's to that the Republican running for Gov is associated with Christie and may be just as corrupt.

This man is a bully! And those who aren't standing up for him and beside him will cause him to lash out and seek retribution against other Republicans. I wouldn't doubt when all is said and done that this man wouldn't sing like a canary over all the corruption, inside Republican politics BS, and total frauds that the ReThuglican's really are and who they really work for. This man will be looking for blood as he's forced down and out. He will also be taking any of the NJ Dems who hand held him thru the past election. This man is a dangerous sycophant and will destroy those around him and throw them under a bus. Just look at what he did publicly to his top advisors on national TV for almost 2 hrs. "I don't know", "they went rogue", "I fired them", "they are liars", and laughably, "I'm not a bully" meme he's trying to spread... When we have all seen his repugnant responses and full on mean spirited, full-throated take downs of constituents he is supposed to work for.

Don't forget, he took down a few Republicans with his "rise/ ride" to the top. Those sting operations took down members of his own party. AND he also went full on press court and attack mode against John Boehner and the Tea Party wing of their party over not getting Sandy money aid to rebuild after the flooding and destruction in the state. He hugged close to Obama in 2012, blasted his party for "free money" and to have that "free money" at the state's disposal, rather than having Federal oversight since DC is so much more corrupt. He told Romney he couldn't campaign in NJ for donations and then went to the RNC convention in Tampa, FL and spoke about himself to set up a national image with the American public who was seeing him for the first time in some cases. He basically stood there and said Mitt sucks, Pres Obama is going to win, and in 2016, elect me because I'm able to get shit done and work across the aisle. AND then in his Gov campaign, he made sure to set the Senatorial election for Cory Booker on a different date prior to the state election where he appeared on the ballot because he didn't want a lot of Dem voters (read poor black folks and other minorities) coming out and voting his numbers down. He pushed for Dem support from local municipalities and used fear, retribution, bullying etc tactics to make sure he was getting his endorsements and pushing his winning election numbers. He knows most of America is tired of the BS and want to have things get done. His portrayal and media image was and has been the most important thing for him because he wants into the White House. He will still try to get there.

34. How I miss the dunce in the White House...
Sat Feb 15, 2014, 03:46 AM
Feb 2014

How could we do this to the nation. We FORCED the teabaggers out from their closets, and out from under their beds. It's ALL our fault. We went from this total dunce of fool to someone with a valedictorian degree from a prestigious university that has the gift of tongue and the brain brighter than a 20 watt light bulb. It was TOO MUCH for this country to handle. We forced the teabaggers out of the dark crevices of the nation, and woke them up to a minority in their ALL WHITE White House. It's OUR FAULT, I tell ya. How could we have done that, and expected the nation to gather behind the ideas of leader who actually had a brain.

We should have elected mitt the Draft-dodging-coward to represent us around the world. He would have been so much better at relating to the Olympics and the persecuted 1%. He could have kept fox-nonsense in the gutter of ratings where it belongs, but NOooooo, we had to elect a damned "Obama-care" liberal; someone who actually wanted to do something for the nation to build on.

Well...we get what we deserved. We should have elected mr. 9-9-9, or michelle bat-shit-crazy eyeballs, or man-on-dog-sleep-with-the-still-born-fetus guy. Then, we'd be able to just shake our heads and wonder how we had sunk so low and what it would have been like to have "a black family in our White House" instead of seeing it in front of our eyes.

Shame on YOU all!!!!

42. All this corruption
Sat Feb 15, 2014, 06:04 PM
Feb 2014

All this corruption was always there the mainstream media as key players took America on a trip with Bush and now Christie.

Deception, irresponsible to the common wealth and horrible ways the Supreme Court also players in what can be considered the most criminal displaced biased convergence of prejudice profiteering war mongering making way for Bush to sack the treasury.

These guys knew what they were doing, in all the intentions to profiteer. Making money, by the “ex nihilo” the principle to generate something from nothing. That where money is considered free speech, then why not make that which can be considered a living wage for all citizens.

For all time in real honest recorded history this period will go down as the beginning of the most disgraceful period achieved by what is called the most powerful nation in history.

Many will reflect on the political cruelty devised to get elected then with cavalier arrogance the Republican Party used and abused the elected positions to shut down the government to bargain to profiteer at the expense of the citizen is treason to the Constitution totally neglected avoided and dismissed by the media by newspapers all biased for the one percent.

This is no conspiracy it is wide open slap in your face, do what your told, be a good citizen, work harder, pay more taxes, listen to the lies and believe them. Sweat till you retire and don’t expect it. Scratch and scrape even if you are a veteran, stop complaining, watch while the political banksters and former president Bush with his administration get away with war crime profiteering, and what I learned is not to vote for that candidate that tells you “ yes we can “.
