I was listening to the Kid Leo Show on Sirius radio's "Little Steven's Underground Garage" channel yesterday afternoon when The Kid announced Little Steven's pick for coolest song in the world. I was thrilled that it was a song from a local indy band here in the NE Ohio/Western PA area.
"About The Weekend" is the 1st single from The Jellybrick's forthcoming 6th CD, "Youngstown Tune-up". Kid Leo felt obligated to define a "Youngstown Tune-up" as a locally familiar old euphemism for a car bomb hit. He then told why this is historically relevent for those who live outside the area.

As an aside, Kid Leo was the legendary voice of WMMS, Home of The Buzzard, when I was a young man in the early '70s. His seductively deep voice and instinctive picks of underground avant always takes me back to the glory days before corporate interests ruined FM radio forever.
The Jellybricks newest single may not be for everyone, and I even think maybe it's a bit too pop for my general taste, but I was thrilled to see some local boys get a break. Then again, what does Little Steven VanZandt know about music... or the mob?

(18,623 posts)I just didn't realize how cool Ghoulardi really was until I got older. I was tuning in to see him use M80s to blow up model cars viewers sent in and read the mail. His battles with the ancient TV news anchor Dorothy Fuldheim were legendary. Tim Conway tells some great stories about those days of early Cleveland live TV.
Ghoulardi's Friday night antics were always the subject of Monday morning water fountain conversation at school. I seem to remember there were movies too. hahaha
