WKRP in Cincinnati: Bailey educates Les about labor unions

I posted more about the WKRP in Cincinnati "The Union" episode I recently saw, here.

In this scene, WKRP's reporter Les Nessman disses labor unions as "communism" and "Slavic", and Bailey Quarters tries to convince Les that unions are good.

Furthermore, "reality TV" often has NON UNION writers, to distract us from true reality! alp227 Feb 2014 #2

Loni Anderson got the press but Jan Smithers was the real beauty on the show. yourout Feb 2014 #4

Look up Loni Anderson on Wikipedia. Even in 2012 she still typecast herself as Jen Marlowe. nt alp227 Feb 2014 #9

TV shows were instructive about major political realities, including unions and the need for them?

But such instruction is not healthy for securing the goals of the One Percent.

No wonder the PTB have saturated the networks with shows about the Kardashians, Honey Boo Boo, and young clueless women vying in a cut throat fashion to be chosen by the Bachelor of the season as his wife.

And not to mention:

I mean, just look at the objectification and subordination of this poor, brilliant, self-confident woman! Those positions aren't even natural. And that clothing! Can you imagine how ridiculous this would look if a man were portrayed in similar garb and poses? Obscene!

...but I wish you wouldn't drag the DU Gender War into a perfectly good thread about unions.

you might say they were the Ginger and Maryanne of the early 80s. Except in this case for me it's not a toss up- Maryanne wins hands down.
