The video of Rachel's story on this is at the above link. There was a way to get this wreckage legally, and involved getting on a waiting list, as Rachel Maddow explained on her show last night. But Christie had Baroni just just take it out of Hangar 17 at Kennedy Airport where 911 wreckage is stored.

How would the Dem mayors know these were in essence stolen pieces? And why would the mayor turn down this gift for his or her town? Christie had a list of 100 mayors that he was methodically going down and offering these pieces to, in an attempt to curry favor for an endorsement. Sokolich was number 45 on that list.

Not that the MSM (other than MSNBC) is talking about it either. There is nothing on Christie's 911 wreckage outrage on ABC either. CBS burries the info in a story focusing on Christie's plummeting poll numbers with a generic "More Bad News as Investigation Continues" headline. Nothing on CNN.

If a Dem did this, not only would it be a headline in every newspaper, but there would be calls for his or her arrest, let alone removal from office. Sigh. IOKIYAR

Bill Baroni to the Port Authority. Up till then, the distribution was determined and granted by a group of PA employees reviewing the lengthy applications required and submitted. Bill Baroni decided (2011?) HE would take over and become the sole authority at the PA for the 911 WT wreckage. Those Jersey mayors were the only (known so far) beneficiaries that were offered "souvenirs", while the rest of the world had to beg for them through the application process. Despicable!
