One Chirpy one twittered out..."But, is it "Presidential" for him to be out there promoting Obama Care? To be fair they did mention statistics that his appearance had thousands more sign up and that the video went viral on You Tube and thousand more were watching it and posting on Social Media. But, they were concerned it might reach "just young people."

no wonder cable news is dying. Social media at this point is the key in getting more of an objective viewpoint and some truth to the news.

I know many of the news people (not journalist) have their talking points from their corporate masters I know at this point in time journalism is dead per se with television news and of course fake news and want-to-be fake news cnn totally controls the media outlets in the country, but the younger, middle aged and seniors are tuning away.

...is Bill O'Reilly's contention that Lincoln would never have gone on that Two Ferns show.

Ummm... Lincoln had quite the sense of humor! He was well known for it at the time, and might have been the first president with an honest to goddess sense of humor.

Of course, Republicans want to portray him as a stick in the mud, because projection is about the only thing they know how to do, and they want to "own" Lincoln. Basically, it comes down to this - Anything a Republican says to do or think or believe, you should do or think or believe the opposite.

Some examples:

http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/cartoonists/2012/11/lincolns-smile.html
http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/Funny-Presidential-Quotes/a/Abraham-Lincoln-Quotes.htm

Personally, I think Lincoln would have LOVED Between Two Ferns, because his sense of humor was very dry and sarcastic.

I don't remember if it was "Today" or "GMA." My wife had the TV running as I was leaving for work.

The tease stated something along the line of "Maria Shriver on living paycheck to paycheck."

Seriously? A member of the Kennedy family, who herself is a national television celebrity and ex-wife of Arnold Schwarzenegger, is going to give us advice on how to live from paycheck to paycheck?

This is why I regard today's network news as a total joke that is never to be taken seriously. There's more news content from the comedy shows on Comedy Central, including Tosh!

She's not giving advice on how to live paycheck to paycheck, but based on her recent report on the topic, she's producing a documentary which will air next Monday at 9:00 on HBO chronicling one woman's struggle to raise her family living paycheck to paycheck. The report focuses on the 42 million Americans dealing with that struggle. It's a serious and honest look at what I see as a deplorable situation, but pretty sure Maria isn't trying to say she herself is in the paycheck-to-paycheck mode. I like that Stephen gave her a forum to inform us about this particular issue.

Blessings.

When Will Ferrell promoted healthcare.gov on facebook about 10 days ago, he got a deluge of hate comments. Now that Obama's appearance on one of Ferrell's Funny or Die web shows has actually accomplished what it hoped to do, they are pissed.

Btw, just heard a really positive story on the ACA on the local NPR station.

The very real and personal effects of Obamacare on the American workaday:

Bush pokes fun at himself, staff

WASHINGTON — President Bush poked fun at his staff, his Democratic challenger and himself Wednesday night at a black-tie dinner where he hobnobbed with the news media.

Bush put on a slide show, calling it the “White House Election-Year Album” at the Radio and Television Correspondents’ Association 60th annual dinner, showing himself and his staff in some decidedly unflattering poses.

There was Bush looking under furniture in a fruitless, frustrating search. “Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be somewhere,” he said.

McAuliffe's Republican counterpart, Ed Gillespie, responded by saying people need to lighten up, that the president made the comment in jest.

He noted that the correspondents at the dinner laughed when the president made the remark.

"There is a long-standing tradition of the president making light of serious matters and self-deprecating humor" at the dinner, he said.

"The people in the room obviously saw the humor in it at that moment. And to play it back now in a different context is unfair, frankly, I have to say."

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/03/26/bush.wmd.jokes/

Quotes from Lapdogs: How the Press Lay Down for the Bush White House by Eric Boehlert

On National Review Online, conservative talk show host Michael Graham, who attended the Correspondents dinner, mocked the critics: "Somehow, over the past 30 years, liberalism has mutated into something akin to an anti-comedy vaccine. The more you're Left, the less you laugh."

The supposedly liberal Los Angeles Times completely agreed. In an unsigned editorial, the paper belittled Democrats and anyone else who had the nerve to question Bush's sense of wartime humor, or daring to question Beltway tradition: "The truly serious thing about what's known as Washington's 'Silly Season' is whether presidents rise to the challenge."

On Fox News, there was heated agreement between Sunday News anchor Chris Wallace and the network's Washington bureau managing editor, Brit Hume, that Bush's WMD jokes were perfectly acceptable.

Wallace:"I still think it's funny."
Hume: "I thought it was a good-natured performance."

Washington Post news reporter and Fox panelist Cecil Connelly concurred: "The pictures were funny. I laughed at the photos."

Funny that O'Reilly would use Lincoln specifically.

The press was helicoptered/boated out to the photo-op but never mentioned that to viewers.

to shape their viewers' preferences (e.g., you WILL react to the word "sideboob" because we will make it impossible for you not to), when suddenly some amongst the MSM--the humorless Fox News, most predictably--scream bloody murder when Obama trumps them.

Abraham Lincoln would have killed on "Between Two Ferns," too, and thus would probably have brought the Civil War to a much earlier end. Not that it's over even now for everyone, obviously.
