(8,377 posts)I wish the campaign would have been sustained over a longer period, and I wish there were a way to train all Democrats to speak the plain truth about health care.
When the Faux crowd talks about "mom jeans" (what the hell are "mom jeans" anyway?) and the indignity of appearing in various media -- including the new media channels, not just Press the Meat, they sound ridiculous. When the president explains what he is doing, I don't see how any fair-minded person would have a problem with it. We must remember that there are only about 3 million of these Faux assholes. There are 25 million voters up for grabs who don't wait for the wisdom of Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh every day. They have other priorities in their lives. They are low-information voters, and we have to get information to them. Using all the channels is the smart way. I'm glad people like Bill-o don't understand that.

(6,151 posts)Don't need to tell you that expression 'mom jeans' is a feeble effort to emasculate just like waving guns everywhere shows how desperate they are to be seen as strong and virile. I live for the day when some child actually, independently asks a parent one of my favorite poster's DU sig line: Daddy, what were Republicans?
And by way of a hopeful note, a quick anecdote: Went to lunch at Captain D's with a few colleagues here in South Carolina, and there was a guy sitting elsewhere in the restaurant with a t-shirt that combined a couple of pictures of assault rifles with the "O" logo from the Obama campaign to say something to the effect of "just try and take these guns!" or something similarly infantile.
One of my colleagues opined that that shirt should just say "I am an asshole". Another of my colleagues replied, "I think it does!"

I guess I have a closet full of Grandmom jeans, because Obama looks a lot better than me in jeans. He's a good looking guy, generally very fashion conscious. But really, do we want him to spend all of his time with his tailor, or is it more important for him to deal with the problems of the nation? I guess we have the Republican answer. They understand that when they hold office, they aren't in charge of anything, as the 0.1% calls all the shots, so it makes sense that they would put a high value on looking the part.

(23,946 posts)The ACA will be measured in the many more young people that will now sign up, ensuring the success of the law and incidentally burying the Republicans in their own lies.
Running from Obamacare is the worst possible thing a Democratic could possibly do, and time will tell, plenty of time left.
