'How Dare You!' Hayes' Conservative Guest (Jennifer Stefano) Goes Off During Obamacare Fight

A copy of the VIDEO segment also here: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/how-dare-you-hayes-conservative-guest-goes-off-during-obamacare-fight/

Chris Hayes‘ show took a sharp turn Wednesday night when guest Jennifer Stefano, Pennsylvania state director for Americans for Prosperity, accused him of trying to “undercut the voice of a woman” and “making it personal” in his argument with her on the latest Obamacare extension. She raised her voice and scolded Hayes for talking over her, while a stunned Hayes insisted it had nothing to do because of her gender.

The nuttiest person on TV today!
Palin, Bachmann, and Orly Tatiz had the day off

this particular woman.

Shes a state director, high muckety-muck, and surely has had the best training they have (and they do training - that's how they get people elected).

Her data was silly and didn't connect to what she was saying, but then she deliberately chose to be a loudmouth (there were times when I think her mouth was open so wide she almost took up the whole little scree). She deliberately took on the attitude and voice to deflect what he was saying and run out the time on the segment while looking tough?

She thought this was her best strategic option? Being a hateful little turd with nothing useful to say on national tv? Maybe figured she couldn't answer so salvage something by throwing a cookie to their drooling supporters by not letting the "socialist liberal" push her around? This is pretty good news, it seems, if that's all they got.

It's rare that someone is so obnoxious on my computer that one of my dogs gets up and leaves the room. I lost two of them for 10 minutes just over this.

WTF? She never answered any of his legitimate questions: just spewed right wing talking points ala Sarah Palin. She had virtually no valid facts on her side (Thirty percent above the poverty line is over a 90,000 dollar income per year?) Such ignorance would be laughable if so much of the Republican base actually making no more than the real poverty line (a little over $23,000 for a family of four) weren't swallowing it. Somewhere around $30,000 is a far cry from over $90,000. Poor empathy, no heart and bad math. Why do pundits claim the Repubs will take over Congress this year? Maybe you can't fix stupid, but why should the rest of us suffer? Democrats need to get off their asses and vote in the mid-term. BTW, still trying to understand why the AHA is harming our kids, according to this crazy lady.

The Gish Gallop, named after creationist Duane Gish, is the debating technique of drowning the opponent in such a torrent of half-truths, lies, and straw-man arguments that the opponent cannot possibly answer every falsehood in real time. The term was coined by Eugenie Scott of the National Center for Science Education. Sam Harris describes the technique as "starting 10 fires in 10 minutes."

Basically he starts her segment by saying that she is going to make insincere arguments about why she opposes ACA. And then she does, immediately.

When she is finally pinned on the 'you don't give a crap about insuring the uninsured' she gives a non-denial denial by going off loudly about 'you don't know why I get up in the morning!' and then a two-in-one tangent with the Harry Reid + "I am woman" combo.

I see two things that Journalists like Chris should use to force a "fair and balanced" debate.

The first is to have a TRAINED debate moderator that would enforce a one at a time exchange. Your turn - times up - your rebuttal.

The second thing is for Chris to have a cut-the-mic switch, so when people like her filibusterer by being a domineering rude bully that doesn't allow the other person to speak and interrupts the other person to complete their statements.

Cut her off, make your point, Chris, then turn the mic back on to give her a fair amount of time to make her point, then cut her mic after giving a fair amount of ranting time to her, and respond.

The opponents of the ACA are scraping the bottom of the barrel by resorting to bullying screaming word salad desperation. This was not an exchange of ideas. This was a spoiled mean selfish child badgering mom and dad to get her a new toy.

I like cutting the mic because it would force the word salad tossers to at least engage in a fair exchange of ideas and it would negate the behavior of people that seem to have the emotional maturity of 5th graders!

At long last ma'am, have you no sense of basic human decency?

my facebook post cut and paste for du. Nice her guesting methodoolgy is identified and defined. Hopefully this excellent phrase will become a standard term in our political discourse. Oh, look, the three conservative guests on Fox and Friends are Gish Galloping the token progressive again.

For all my anti-Obamacare Facebook friends, could you please at least upgrade the quality of your shills? Your interests are not well served by this woman's abuse of the "Gish Gallop." Is there anything that came out of this woman's mouth that you agree with or has some basis in fact? Please, I'd really like to know. Her performance single handedly increased the public approval rating of the ACA five points by this performance alone! Thank her for me.

From the youtube comments section:

"The Gish Gallop is the debating technique of drowning the opponent in such a torrent of half-truths, lies, and straw-man arguments that the opponent cannot possibly answer every falsehood in real time. Sam Harris describes the technique as "starting 10 fires in 10 minutes."

She has this technique down to a science. There was not a single truthful coherent statement during the whole entire segment."

The Gish Gallop is the debating technique of drowning the opponent in such a torrent that the opponent cannot possibly answer every falsehood in real time. More often than not, these myriad arguments are full of half-truths, lies, and straw-man arguments - the only condition that there be many of them.

Examples are most commonly found in "list" articles that may claim to show "100 reasons for" something, or "50 reasons against" something. At this sort of level, with dozens upon dozens of minor arguments, each individual point on the list may only be a single sentence or two, and many may be repeats and vague re-wordings. This is the intention: although it is trivial amount of effort on the part of the galloper to make a point, a refutation may take much longer and someone addressing it may not be able to refute all points in short order. If even one argument in a Gish Gallop is left standing, the galloper will attempt to claim victory.

The term was coined by Eugenie Scott of the National Center for Science Education, named after creationist Duane Gish. Creationists are fond of it, see "101 evidences for a young age of the Earth and the universe" for example, which is perhaps the most stunning case. Sam Harris describes the technique as "starting 10 fires in 10 minutes."
