Stephen Colbert has built his career out of playing the overly offensive character we all know and love on The Colbert Report. But while most viewers realize his non-PC humor and even downright offensive gags are satire, his character's nuance can get lost on Twitter. This faux outrage is ridiculous especially when you consider the fact that people like Malkin are first in line to defend people who make non-satirical, racially insensitive comments.
It's like they said in the video, apparently, the first amendment only applies to racists. People who mock racism not so much.
I would recommend this post, but I think the #drama has been going on too damned long for all of this.
Amazingly, DU was one of the few places I didn't see some kind of crazy word-war over this.

(31,959 posts)The problem with people who play the "free speech" card to defend controversial speech is that they'll use that term only for speech that doesn't inconvenience their own worldview or personality.
