Lila Rose & Ginni Thomas Discuss "Tyrant" In White House

Via Right Wing Watch

From The New Civil Rights Movement:
Ginni Thomas recorded this interview with well-known anti-choice activist Lila Rose, who got her own start by working with Breitbart protégé and conservative activist James O’Keefe.

“Years from now when history books are written about this culture, what are they going to see, and how do we stop the erosion?,” Thomas asks Rose.

“This idea that the government is secular and we have our faith over here,” Rose moves her arms, gesturing. “No. Secular is somehow saying there’s no God, there’s no higher power, there’s no higher law,” Rose tells Thomas. “You can’t say that because then when you have a tyrant in power – which you often, sadly, do – and I believe there’s aspects of tyranny in who you have in power now – then whole groups of people, their rights are not respected, their rights are not protected and you have human rights abuses.”

Notice that Lila Rose says, “I believe there’s aspects of tyranny in who you have in power now.” Not “we,” but “you,” as if she doesn’t recognize that Barack Obama is her president too.

The catch is that our Constitution recognizes our right to freedom of religion and at the same time prohibits our government from establishing a religion. So the while we recognize our innate rights to certain freedoms (which the NSA among others violate every day), it also prohibits our government from dictating to us just what the definition or identity or religious belief about the higher power or "god" or "creator" that gave us those rights.

This simple-minded woman speaking can't see the problem with her theory. If government should comply with or adopt any religious belief, then it violates the First Amendment. The First Amendment was specifically written to allow religious minorities to exist. Washington made it very clear in a letter supporting a treaty with Gibraltor that the US government favors no religious viewpoint. It takes a very narrow mind to think that the fact that our government is not aligned with any religion or religious view is incompatible with religious freedom and the concept of natural rights.

The choice is not really between secular and religious but rather the secular respects the rights of people to disagree about religion and the freedom of each person to believe or not believe about religion as he or she chooses.

It sounds complicated but is actually pretty simple to understand if you don't have the agenda of violating the Constitution by imposing your religion on other Americans and requiring the government to establish your religion.

Thomas Jefferson, one of the proponents of "natural rights" that underlies our Constitution was a deist. He believed in the moral teachings of Jesus, but abhorred priests and the Christian religion as practiced at his time.

This young woman needs to read up on Jefferson and Madison.

Our creator may not be the one she is worshiping. As a matter of fact, the one she worships prohibits women from even speaking in church. At least she has long hair...but she know all sees all...
