this is simply put for the many of us that are at a loss when someone is suffering... "what do I say?" the listening and connection are the important thing

a lot of people who could use an empathetic friend or two are in so much pain themselves, they find it difficult to lay their troubles out. Two family members always insist, "I'm fine" when they're clearly not. Very sad.

if many could trust a friend or family member to be empathetic (as opposed to being sympathetic or critical) it would go a long way towards healing
