They vote against Democrats. I've met very few wingers who have any love for the Republican party, but god almighty do they fucking hate Democrats.

This is why "meeting in the middle" doesn't work. Democrats take a few more conservative positions to compromise - but the people we're trying to win over aren't driven by policy, but by visceral hatred of Democrats. So when Democrats adopt "conservative" positions, the conservatives just move further to the right. On and on again. This is the process that is turning hte Democrats into a right-conservative party and the Republicans into a deluded rabies convention.

Once you realize that they're just hateful people, you realize that their opinions and positionsdon't really matter - The democratic party should stop with its constant "outreach," and pull back to the left. It'll revitalize the Democrats and might even encourage hte Republicans to come back to sanity.

Many American citizens HATE Democrats and anything "liberal" like they've been taught to for the last 30 years.

One right winger I know just couldn't bring himself to vote for Rmoney, but couldn't vote for Obama. He ended up not voting, and I must say, I actually liked him that day.

I will never understand people voting against their own self interests. Some of the regions with the poorest people in the country continue to vote for these asshats. Over and over and over, tax cuts for the rich, demonize the very poor that they are, but add some race baiting to it and it works.
