Secretary of State John Kerry Attacks RT News Network as "Propaganda Bullhorn"...Russia Replies

Propaganda bullhorn’: John Kerry attacks RT during Ukraine address

*-------------------------*

Russia's Foreign minister Sergey Lavrov has lashed out at US Secretary of State John Kerry over his 'prosecutorial' remarks about RT.

Russia's Foreign minister Sergey Lavrov has lashed out at US Secretary of State John Kerry over his 'prosecutorial' remarks about RT.

"The US is trying to pervert everything that is going on in Ukraine. They accuse us of turning on - what was called by John Kerry in a prosecutorial tone - accuse us of switching on what they called the ‘Putin propaganda machine’ called RT,” said Lavrov during the press conference.

“Well, It’s not civilized to call the media like that,” he said, adding that he can "understand John Kerry because RT now presents serious competition for CNN and BBC and other media outlets, which some time ago were confident that they had an absolute monopoly and no competition could threaten them."

However, RT news channel has gathered a large audience among US and European viewers, let alone in Latin America and the Arab World, Lavrov said.

According to Lavrov, Russia will actively support these independent views of RT, which are an alternative to what Western propaganda tells the world.

1. RT editor critical of Putin's actions against Ukraine, tweeted, 'Ukraine RIP'

RT anchors and editors have been quitting because of the noncritical role RT is playing in Putin's military annexations of Ukraine.

Sad that so many Americans are falling for Putin's actions. Putin learned ALOT from the RW propaganda media here in the US that idolizes RW authoritarianism and religious righteousness while undermining Democratic leaders.

the IMF/EU/WB Loans...

And here's the Scoop on Liz Wahl the anchor who stormed out of RT and tore up her script. Neo Con Plant:
----------------------------
Neoconservatives Behind RT Anchor Liz Wahl’s Resignation?
Posted on March 20, 2014 by admin •

Liz Wahl’s recent resignation from Russia Today (RT), due to the network’s coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine territory, was nothing more than a secretive power play by neoconservatives desperate to revive Cold War tensions, according to a new investigation by Truthdig.

Behind the coverage of Wahl’s dramatic protest, a cadre of neoconservatives was celebrating a public relations coup. Desperate to revive the Cold War, head off further cuts to the defense budget and restore the legitimacy they lost in the ruins of Iraq, the tightknit group of neoconservative writers and stewards had opened up a new PR front through Wahl’s resignation.

According to the investigation, which included interviews with six current RT employees, Wahl was considered apolitical until she became involved with James Kirchick, a 31-year-old writer working for the Foreign Policy Institute (FPI), a neoconservative think tank located in DC. Kirchick reportedly “helped craft Wahl’s strategy and exploit her resignation to propel the agenda of a powerful pro-war lobby in Washington.”

On March 5, 2014, 19 minutes before Wahl resigned from her position at RT on air, FPI tweeted: “#WordOnTheStreet says that something big might happen on RT in about 20-25 minutes.” Then, exactly 10 minutes before Wahl’s resignation, FPI added: “#WordOnTheStreet says you’re really going to want to tune in to RT: http://rt.com/on-air/rt-america-air/ #SomethingBigMayBeGoingDown.”

Finally, at the exact moment that Wahl announced her resignation, FPI’s Twitter account broke the news by tweeting: “RT Anchor RESIGNS ON AIR. She ‘cannot be part of a network that whitewashes the actions of Putin.’” A little more than an hour later, an interview with Wahl appeared on The Daily Beast, authored by James Kirchick.

Abby Martin said she was never told her job was in jeopardy at RT...but, Abby is non-violent...and doesn't support military interventions where people can be killed. She hopes for diplomacy.

I imagine there are always newspeople who are young like the staff of RT and their reporters (for the most part) who will move on to other jobs because they may disagree with policy of their employer...but, there's not been any "mass exodus" from RT that I've read about.

If you have more info...please post.

Guess you don't WANT to see what Putin is doing, because, you've convinced yourself that the US under this WH is so much worse.

I think you're VERY WRONG to side with the man who wants to re-assemble the USSR of his youth at the expense of all those nations who had believed they were free from its oppression.

2. At least the New York Times can now quote Kerry without the need to provide pictures

In his most detailed accusation of Russian interference to date, Mr. Kerry said that American intelligence services had concluded that Russia’s “military intelligence services and special operators are playing an active role in destabilizing eastern Ukraine with personnel, weapons, operational planning and coordination.”

“Some of the individual Special Operations personnel who were active on Russia’s behalf in Chechnya, Georgia and Crimea have been photographed in Slovyansk, Donetsk and Luhansk,” Mr. Kerry said. “Some are even bragging about it by themselves on their Russian social media sites.”

3. At the least, that is the "pot calling the kettle black."

A few RT anchors denounced the annexation of Ukraine and when they were "called Out" by the Russian PTB they
demanded ( so they said) their freedom to speak their minds and were left alone. Abby (I think) was reportedly fired for her comments but it never came to pass.
With Americans like Thom Hartmann able to speak their minds on a large network (RT) and reach a larger audience, I seriously doubt that he is restricted in his commentary, IMO if he were, he would refuse to work there.
Thom is a very Progressive and outspoken person, especially against the current American oligarchy, of which Kerry is a part of.

When we see the chilling effect in our own media on journalism...and given the history of the Iraq war and the media standing behind it 100% with never a question.

If we had independent media in the US we would not need to watch RT to find out what is going on in our own country.

In the mind of the public.
And we are still at war all over the world, but the media says nothing about it...because it is a proxy war in most cases...and one fought with drones and economic power.

Bush gave us a permanent war....one that Obama can't say no to even if he wanted to.
