Ever wonder what slicing a quail embryo into a thousand slices would look like when animated?

http://www.nikonsmallworld.com/galleries/entry/2013-small-world-in-motion-competition/1

This 3D reconstruction of a quail embryo – comprised of more than 1,000 separate images – shows in startling clarity and detail the anatomy of the specimen. The winning video shows a sequence of “virtual” slices through the whole embryo with 10 days of (in egg) gestation. With this technique, studying the whole anatomy of large specimens like this embryo (23mm long) is possible.

I thought it was pretty neat

So you can see just the lymph system, or the circulatory system, or the nervous system.

I can say with a fair amount of confidence that this question has never crossed my mind.
Ever.
But I watched the film anyway, so thanks.

baby quail fetuses purposely relieved of their own animation and given a virtual animation by someone's iPhone for the entertainment of those who wondered about this kind of stuff. And yes, I will eat quail.
