Papantonio: BP’s Toxic Legacy

It’s been four years since BP leaked more than 200 million gallons of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico. BP has recovered just fine, but the ecosystem and the victims along the Gulf Coast are still suffering. Ring of Fire’s Mike Papantonio discusses what’s happened in the 4 years since the spill with author and investigative journalist Greg Palast.

such lies, corruption, and huge conflicts of interests in 25 years of mass tort litigation! We took BP to trial 4 times in their Texas City, Tx plant explosion that killed 15 and injured 6,000. BP was still on probation at the time of the oil spill from the felony they committed trying to cover up a fraudulent filing with the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality. Instead of revoking their probation, they were let off early (right after the oil spill). Eric Holder refused to do anything even though we gave them all of the documents.
Most of the businesses and individual victims are still waiting for Justice and are being screwed by this rigged class action settlement. I am completely disgusted with all of the greedy S.O.B's involved in this totally fucked up case! Our government and our courts have let us down, including the Plaintiff's Steering Committee (PSC). They were offered a $600,000,000 "Common Benefit Fund" by BP to pay for attorneys fees and case expenses, but they only get the money if the class action goes all the way through and most of the victims are stuck in the class and cannot take BP to trial. Think there is a conflict there? Most of the PSC members didn't even let their clients know that they could opt out of this crooked class, or that they waive their right to trial against BP!
