Montgomery county Tn. The for profit company here is CCI ( community corrections incorporated). What a scam. If you can afford to pay your fines and probation fees upfront, then they put you on "unsupervised probation"...

We the people have to learn there are some functions of our social fabric which cannot be turned over to corporations which exist for one purpose -- maximizing profit.

In a for-profit world, history shows us over and over and over, "the smartest guys in the room" are going to figure out a way to line their pockets at the expense of the rest of us.

Do we really want a world where profit supersedes fairness and justice?

Also, I am not sure about the "smartest guy in the room" attribution. I think it is closer to the most unscrupulous guy/gal and
who he/she knows (or will get to know/bribe).
We need to Unite and stop this feudalism ASAP. Sometimes the enemy of my enemy is my friend even when it comes to ignorant
RW libertarians. We just have to make sure that 1) we take every opportunity to educate them and
2) we take ALL precautions to insure that "they" do not take-over our Progressive movement, IMO.
These RW'ers have shown everyone that because they "protest" while armed (cowardly IMO), but because they do, they are not
attacked/abused like the peaceful Occupy movement and most non-violent Progressive protestors.
Since polling indicates that the majority of Americans are Progressive, I guess TPTB feel more threatened, even though we are unarmed.
Ideals are dangerous things...
