(81,212 posts)He's a total tool. And she reached her hand out and touched his arm, too, getting his attention, asserting a position of dominance and superiority. Subtle, but totally THERE! You GO, Sister! If I were President, I'd have YOU do the convocation at my inauguration. Not anybody like that pompous stuffed-shirt rick wallace. And I'd choose the OTHER Wallis - JIM Wallis, of Sojourners, as the other faith speaker.

(57,936 posts)Wish there was a way we could charge employers for the welfare and government benefits their employees have to apply for just to stay alive. Can anyone think of a way to use deductions as (to use that OK Republican word) an incentive to get employers to pay living wages?

(111,245 posts)Like most of these bloviating jerks all he knows are slogans and a few canned speeches. He's got absolutely no idea about real world economics and the lives of people who don't get hundreds of thousands of years for bloviating slogans and canned speeches over the airwaves.
I hope Maher has Sister Simone back often. She shows how it's done.
The depressed minimum wage is the issue right now. Most of the trouble this country and the economy are now in is because labor has been devalued below a living level while a handful of billionaires rob us all blind. If it doesn't change, and soon, there will be a revolution.

(9,298 posts)Why does Maher have this nincompoop on his show, and why does D'Souza agree to appear?

The WallMarts of the world
and, yes
the health care system I WORK FOR
They pay as little as they can get away with and even claim "non-profit" status... so little the workers holding what they feel is a career ladder after one or two rungs fall off and to NO WHERE
what other opportunities do they have? How can these organizations get away with their workers being eligible for state welfare?
Meanwhile, where else can the American worker with a 2 year degree go for a "career ladder"?
Hey, American worker
your money is being held in an offshore account and your corporate "leaders" are really good at not paying property taxes or even taxes at all, if they are General Electric.
May DAY!
