(1,536 posts)I signed on to BC/BS directly because, through the ACA, the policy was less than half what my plan through my employer is.
And the nice thing about it is that if I lose my job I don't lose my coverage.
The ACA has been a win/win for me.

(769 posts)I'm happy about it because?
No more lifetime cap bullshit.
No more pre-existing condition bullshit.
No more cancellation policies bullshit.
No more insurance corporate death panel bullshit.
No more decision-making by insurance corporations on my children's health.
No more limitations on treatment bullshit.
My wife and I are very happy about it even if it costs more but we have guaranteed lifetime healthcare. If republicans take it away from us, they're finished for good.

In the mean time Dems, GOTV! The more Dems we have in congress, the more likely we are to see some improvements to the law.

(2,702 posts)I checked out the ACA website last year, but I didn't qualify for any subsidies. My employer pays for at least half of my premium in my case.
The other wrinkle is that my portion of my health insurance premiums are deducted from my paycheck pre-tax, and it doesn't appear I would be able to deduct my health insurance premiums if I bought them off the exchange, since the cost of the premiums wouldn't exceed 10% of my income.
I'm very happy the ACA is making insurance affordable so everyone can get covered, but I really hope employers don't start dropping health care as a benefit at some point.

(1,616 posts)No only am I paying less per month than I did at my old job, but my employer's health care plan only kicked in after a $3000 deductible - so, essentially, I paid out of pocket for everything anyway, and couldn't afford to get appointments to take care of my sinus problem that I have now had for four years. My new Obamacare plan makes it affordable, and now I can finally get some testing done to find out what's wrong. Thank you Mr. President!!!
