Bill Would Privatize Evictions In Illinois - Rebecca Burns Discusses (Original Post)

(19,817 posts)1. Holy shit, all the house co-sponsors are Democrats!
Rep. Monique D. Davis - Robert Rita - Anthony DeLuca, Charles E. Jefferson, Lawrence M. Walsh, Jr., Jerry F. Costello, II, Katherine Cloonen, Brandon W. Phelps and Patrick J. Verschoore
They're mostly downstate and this bill would initially only apply to Cook County but it will spread.
For those outside of Cook County, Sherriff Tom Dart was a bit of a hero a few years ago when the foreclosure crisis hit by refusing or delaying to carry out evictions. No doubt this is meant to prevent such showings of initiative in the future.

wants to be able to hire their own security officers -- since Tom Dart has stalled evictions on humanitarian grounds -- to remove renters no matter what the winter weather conditions.
Davis enrages me, since she went in on christian endorsements but is now some self-serving capitalist IL Democrat trying to take another rip on the social contract's decency clause. Her disregard for Jesus' Second Great Commandment should piss of both Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan, her endorsers.
Moreover, the state or federal constitutionality of this is questionable.
Her bill is not law yet. But such a bill never should have gotten out of committee.
