actually says: How many times does Barack Obama have to lie to you before you get it? Watch this video and see what--if anything--you disagree with. And now: Back to Iraq.

I'm always looking for current Chris Hedges talks.

I'm on my way out the door, again - running errands, but I'll watch this later this evening.

Chris Hedges is impeccable, his knowledge and experience give him a POV that cannot be denied. He speaks in such a straightforward and candid manner, always delving into the subject matter in a way few others are able to, his perspectives are spot on & give us a very clear and precise explanation of what we are up against.

I don't want to say you'll enjoy the 3 vids I posted today, clearly these are troubling issues and times, but at least we can hope to bring about an awareness still lacking for some.

Let me put it this way...

Everything he said is true, including what he said about Barak Obama.

One statement, in particular, stood out - "The assault on our civil liberties has been far more egregious under Barak Obama than under George W. Bush."

I don't see how anyone can, in all honesty, deny that. Although some will try to spin it otherwise.

P.S. I tried to access the full 45 minutes at StruggleVideoMedia but it appears you have to subscribe.

well the turmoil that will eventually take place if this all continues, global neofeudalism, workers being "competitive" (aka modern slavery to hold a job and survive). Everything is being exploited, and everything and everyone is a commodity. Once you realize the illusion of "right" and "left" all that matters is how the illusion keeps everyone busy while law is dictated by the "job creators"

7. To expand, somewhat, on what he says here, which he's been saying for years..

is that the PTB have lost a sense of the sacred. Everything becomes a commodity that is to be exploited to exhaustion or collapse.

He also says that all the levers of power that were available in the past to the citizenry have been corrupted. There is nowhere anyone can turn to meet the needs that government should be providing to ensure a civilized society.

As Hedges says in this clip, Obama (I think it was his campaign, actually) received "advertiser of the year" award. In other venues he has said that the <advertising> professionals knew what was going on. They know what "branding" is.

I feel increasingly hopeless that anything is ever going to change for the better. Americans are sleepwalking, day to day. The vast majority neither know nor care about the horror we're inflicting on innocent people around the world. It's not about terrorism. It never was. It's about greed and amassing obscene wealth and stealing natural resources that do not belong to us.

Look at Libya. It had the highest human development index of any country on the African continent. Now it doesn't even have what you would call a functioning government. And Hillary said, "We came. We saw. He died". Ha ha. Cute!

There used to be someone here with a sig line that said, "Some days it doesn't even pay to chew through the restraints." Kinda sums it up.

Sorry for the rant.

entirely different: Inverted totalitarianism

Inverted totalitarianism is a term coined by political philosopher Sheldon Wolin in 2003 to describe the emerging form of government of the United States. Wolin believes that the United States is increasingly turning into an illiberal democracy, and he uses the term "inverted totalitarianism" to illustrate the similarities and differences between the United States governmental system and totalitarian regimes such as Nazi Germany and the Stalinist Soviet Union.[1][2][3][4] In Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt by Chris Hedges and Joe Sacco, inverted totalitarianism is described as a system where corporations have corrupted and subverted democracy and where economics trumps politics.[5] In inverted totalitarianism, every natural resource and every living being is commodified and exploited to collapse and the citizenry are lulled and manipulated into surrendering their liberties and their participation in their government by excess consumerism and sensationalism.
