As a 6'6" former Navy Seal and current 5th degree black belt I would never tell a lie... and I'll meet you anywhere and anytime to back that up tough guy. Unless it's a Tuesday, I have to attend an important meeting with the Governor on Tuesday to discuss my next political appointment.

Not only that but the fact that I was short listed for Nobel Prizes and a secret recipient of an MacArthur Genius Grant should tell you that I'm far too intelligent to need to lie about it on an anonymous message board.

People that tell lies online make me sick, they only do it because they aren't as awesome as me. Also, they want to sleep with my Victoria's Secret model wife....bastards.

5. Lies are the tip of the iceberg...

About two years ago, I began to research various websites to determine whether online anonymity promotes bigotry, sarcasm and personal attacks. I soon realized that the vitriol extant on political blogs is ubiquitous, with quite a few participants relentlessly spewing vulgarities that were once considered the exclusive milieu of the narrow-minded. In short, anonymity seems to be a spurious variable with regards to the pervasive vilification of 'others' on political websites--here on DU, 'others' usually being Republicans. It seems that--as with the 'lies' told online--"we all do it."

Of note, too, is the misogyny one often encounters here and on other websites. I find it fascinating that merely mentioning misogyny garners at least a few disclaimers from members who feel that such a 'whiff' of sexism besmirches the entire community.

Basically that sociopaths will say whatever is expedient, no concern about truth, guilt or repercussions. Sounds like Mitt Rmoney.
